My son was diagnosed 2 days ago with an ear infection & put on azythromycin. he shows no improvement after 2 doses, only greatly increased ear pain and discharge. should we wait another day, or go back to his pcp?

Takes time: The discomfort of an ear infection comes from the stretch on the eardrum caused by the pressure of germs + fluid. Relief can take many days. I find Azithromycin a little slower to reach best effects than many penicillin based drugs, but it works. If other indicators like fever have responded I would give it time.
