A member asked:

Hi doctor my son was diagnosed with shingles in his ear canal he now feels numbness on his tongue and side of his face should he be seen in the emerge?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Shingles: This herpes zoster can lay along the facial dermatomes and be painful and numb from weeks to months, each case is different. Tylenol can be given for pain and observe symptoms. If pain worsens and viral rash spreads, be seen in emergency room or pedi MD for further care. Welcome to health tap, Dr. Ivy Fisher
