MRSA: MRSA is a common skin infection that is treated with oral antibiotics. If an abscess is present, surgical drainage is required. In nearly all cases, we do not re-test as the response is judged clinically--how the area looks. If someone does not appear to be responding (less redness, less swelling, no drainage), then a re-evaluation is made.
