Is a sty contagious? if stys form because of staph, can someone else get a staph infection or mrsa by being in contact with someone with a sty?

Can be: General contact is not enough, but if secretions from that eye are transferred to another person they can get an infection. Understand that styles are not generally infectious, but result when the oil producing glands in the lid get obstructed, and expand because they can not empty themselves and may actually split open, releasing the oil the produce into the soft tissues of the lid.
