Conservative Rx: There are prescription anti-viral drugs which include Tamiflu and Relenza which work best when taken within 48 hours of the onset of the flu. You would have to go to a clinic for a check-up and to have one of these drugs prescribed. Otherwise supportive treatment with bed rest, drinking a lot of fluids such as water and fruit juice, chicken soup, and a vaporizer are advisable.

Limited benefit: Flu or common cold is a virus-caused infection and it is very common.Everyone of us will have this infection 1-2 times in a year. So it is good to know that this is not a serious problem most times as it goes away in 7-10 days with or without medication. Tylenol(Acetaminophen) is the best medicine if you have Fever, aches in the body or sore throat/chest pain. Tylenol can be taken every 6 hours
