Mri for l5 s1 pain incidentally found pathologically enlarged t2 hyperintense retroperitoneal lymph nodes at l2-l3. ive no known infection. cancer?

Possibly: I could be a clinically silent infection, however, malignant neoplasm is still of concern and needs to be further evaluated with laboratory tests and additional dedicated imaging such as CT of Chest, abdomen and pelvis to exclude lymphoma or metastatic lymphadenopathy

Don’t jump the gun: All that MRI says is find out what is going on. You should speak with your doctor to schedule other tests including CT and lab tests to get to the bottom of these findings. Best wishes
