Less effective: NuvaRing only has enough hormone in it to reliably protect against pregnancy when used for 3 weeks straight. If you leave it in for 4 weeks (which is not recommended), replace it immediately without a break to ensure continued hormone levels high enough to prevent ovulation and pregnancy. (Your 4th week was your break!)
