No more than 7 days: You can not leave it out longer than 7 days. You can leave it out a shorter time. You can not leave it in longer than 4 weeks. The exact instructions for use are 3 weeks on and 7 days out.

Yes: If you have had it in for 21 days, you can have a 4 day break instead of a 7 day break. Just remember that doing this also changes the day you need to take it back out and you will need them from the pharmacy more often because each ring will only last 25 days instead of 28 days. But it will still protect you from pregnancy. Best wishes!
