A member asked:

56/m(ex-smoker)-is mediastinal lymphadenopathy common or rare in severe bacterial right lower lobar pneumonia with pleuritis & parapneumonic effusion?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Consultation: In this case collaboration with your physician or,pulmonologist and the radiologist is important in determining whether your xray findings explain the lymphadenopathy. Further studies like a ct scan and or follow-up chest xrays and their timing are important questions to be answered. This is a somewhat complicated pneumonia.
