Not an overdose: and insomnia is a known side effect of any steroid, better be given in the morning. It would stay in his system for may be a day, you may want to call your doctor if you wish to stop the medicine, otherwise finish the prescribed dose and give it in the am not on an empty stomach, wish you both wellness
