A member asked:

Can you get rabies after using a spoon that a non-pet cat licked? sometimes we eat outside and i get paranoid at unattended utensils with cats around.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not likely: Most cats are free of rabies. Rabies is spread by injection - it is in the saliva of an infected animal which has to bite you breaking the skin and injecting the virus. The situation you describe would make it almost impossible to contact rabies in that way.
