Nerve: Tingling is a symptom of nerve compression. You likely have a degenerative disc that is pressing against the nerve exiting the spinal column. When you open up the disc space by sitting or other position of comfort the impingement of the nerve is released. Meds help calm down the inflamation and narrow the space. The muscles and spasm /strain can go away with meds, therapy, hands on treatment.

Muscular or Nerve: Pain in that region can be caused by a multitude of factors. It can come from arthritis in the SI joint, it can be due to muscle spasms in that region or lastly a herniated disc. Those are just some of the possibilities. The best thing to do is to get assessed physically, then based on the exam a more detailed plan can be layed out.
