A member asked:

Do people who have tinnitus typically suffer hearing loss from their condition over time?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Tinnitus: Many causes for tinnitus. Most commonly tinnitus is result of damage to cochlear hair cells from noise trauma, senescence, etc. Tinnitus does not cause hearing loss. Degree of tinnitus not necessarily directly proportional to degree of hearing loss. Causation of hearing loss is a large subject. Generally noise exposure, diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, aging, etc associated.
