I know tinnitus is a sign. but how often is tinnitus a foreshadow of total hearing loss? if that's around the corner, i want to be mentally ready. :(

No relationship : Tinnitus does not in any way project the severity or progression of hearing loss. The two are not related in this way. Hearing typically degrades very slowly over time. The average person loses 5 to 10 dB of hearing per decade from the age of 30 onwards. You're not going to lose your hearing soon. Do you see in ENT for an exam and full audiometry.
