PCOS: Ovulation is not regular with PCOS, but it can occur, and of course if sexually active you could be pregnant. It is always a good idea to be on low dose oral contraceptives with prolonged amenorrhea as in PCOS. Inhibition of ovarian function does not deplete sustained estrogen production, which can lead over long periods of time to thickened lining of the uterus, which can cause later problems.
