A 28-year-old male asked:

I had knee partial menisectomy of lateral post horn two weeks ago. i am doing some post - op physiotherapy.i also have atrophy after the surgery, i am sensing pain in patella while climbing up and down the stairs. is it common after menisectomy ?

Knee pain: If you are still having pain after having the surgery, I would recommend that you continue physical therapy and add some non-weight bearing muscles to strengthen the quadriceps and hamstring muscles. This may include resistance exercises to strengthen the quadriceps. I would also recommend a topical NSAID over-the-counter to be applied 2-3x/day. Follow-up with your surgeon as well.
