FET cycle: if embryo transfer is to be successful, the lining of the uterus should have a characteristic thickened appearance on sonogram. Estradiol prepares the lining for the hoped for implantation of the embryo. If the appearance of the lining is not favorable, it is probably not going to be a good transfer. Irregular levels of estrogen can produce this fluid appearance, and transfer is not going to work
