Doctor can examine: A person whose leg or legs swell up, but has no prior reason for doing so (meaning he doesn't already have a known liver, kidney, heart, or circulation problem that leads to swelling) should be evaluated in the E.R. Treatment depends on the amount of swelling, how fast it is increasing, and the actual cause swelling. New swelling in only one leg may mean a blood clot in that leg (very serious).
