Is it safe to remove a 5 yr old kids tonsils?

Depends: In the right hands, with a well trained surgeon and anesthesiologist it is usually fine. It is preferable to do this between active infections to reduce complications. If there is a tonsillar abscess or other need for an urgent procedure the increased risk may be necessary.
