A few days: Yes, give it a few days. Tramadol is an analgesic (pain killer) that can help with mechanical pain which arises from wear & tear or damage in the knee joint. However, the drug is not an anti-inflammatory so it will not help if inflammation is present. If not better in a few days, ask your rheumatologist if you can add Tylenol (analgesic) or ibuprofen (anti-inflammatory) to your tramadol regimen.

Tramadol is not going to eliminate your pain fully, but has potential to modulate it. Communication with your doctor is important so that adjustments to therapy can be made. If this is not a satisfactory approach, let your doctor know.
