Goiter: Goiter is common, and can be asymmetric. However, enlarged thyroid just on one side may also have a different cause - important to get it checked out. A scan or a biopsy may be needed!

Yes: One can develop swelling of the thyroid gland on one side of the midline. The other side may be normal or have smaller swellings. In that case it is more important to check the larger swelling for cancer.
