A member asked:

How is it that muscle weakness is noted later in myasthenia gravis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Due to nerve/muscle: Myasthenia is an autoimmune disorder of the neuromuscular junction, affecting acetylcholine transmission. Repetitive muscle contractions result in increasingly inefficient nerve muscle stimulation with progressive fatigue and weakness. Treatment aims to control this problem and reverse the immune component.
