Ovulatory bldg: A uterine polyp does occasionally cause minimal bleeding, but it does not "always" happen at mid-cycle. Women gradually have increases in estrogen production which accentuates the effects of the drop in estrogen by causing some withdrawal bleeding at the time of ovulation. This is basically the same reason there is menstrual bleeding at the end of the cycle.
