A member asked:

Confirmed small uterine polyp. mid cycle bleeding usually happens between cycle day 10-17. avg cycle is 28-30. is bleeding from polyp or ovulation?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Ovulatory bldg: A uterine polyp does occasionally cause minimal bleeding, but it does not "always" happen at mid-cycle. Women gradually have increases in estrogen production which accentuates the effects of the drop in estrogen by causing some withdrawal bleeding at the time of ovulation. This is basically the same reason there is menstrual bleeding at the end of the cycle.
