IUD:Mirena: Mirena IUD's contain a hormone which assists in preventing implantation of a fertilized egg. If your period is regular, and is delayed, you should obtain a serum HCG test to make certain about possible pregnancy. The "bloating" may be related to intestinal irritation if the HCG test is negative. Pregnancy is always "possible", even with a Mirena IUD in place.
