Vaginal pain: tampon: Go to your gyn provider, as sometimes a tampon is retained without your knowledge, and can cause both pain and infection. In any case, the gyn provider can discover what is causing the problem. Don't delay, b/c the possibility of severe infection exists.

It might be true: "Lost" tampons occur frequently as they often get pushed up past the cervix and can increase intravaginal pressure but can't always be vaginally felt. This can be a dangerous problem due to toxic shock, thus you need to have a GYN MD exam the area to determine the problem.
