Sometimes medication: is not absorbed well and sometimes the dietary intake of things like salt can adversely affect the ability of a drug to control your BP. Sometimes you need multiple doses throughout a day rather than once a day dosing. These are all things your health care provider should be discussing with you. Make an appointment with him/her to discuss your concerns.

Elevated blood pressures require adjustments to treatment. People under 60 years of age should target a blood pressure less than 140/90. This means a systolic blood pressure < 140 AND a diastolic blood pressure < 90.
