Needs evaluation: For a fever to be prolonged by a couple days with cough, I always recommend evaluation. It would be important to determine the cause of the symptoms, then the best treatment can be arranged, and a prognosis can be formed (WHEN you will get better etc). Fever is the body's way of fighting an infection - so I would want to know 'how bad' it really is. Chest X-ray and labs would probably help here.

You sound sick!: A fever with cough may be influenza, pneumonia, even a sinus infection. Talk with your doctor's office - if it's been less than 48 hours, you may be able to take medication to combat influenza. In any case, you may make yourself feel better by drinking plenty of liquids and by taking Tylenol to reduce fever symptoms. Good luck.

Chest infection: Fevers are usually a body's sign of an underlying infection. You may be experiencing a viral respiratory tract infection. Regular paracetamol every 4 hrs and home remedies for the cough such as lemon, ginger, honey drinks should be sufficient at this stage. If the fevers persist or if you develop chest pain or shortness of breath you need to visit your closest A&M Clinic for further evaluation
