Probably just a cold: Low grade fever associated with upper respiratory tract symptoms is usually caused by a viral infection, most typically one of the viruses that cause the common cold. Usually, no treatment is required. Reasons to see your pediatrician include higher fever, prolonged fever, trouble breathing, rash, or other concerning symptoms.
