Dawn effect.: There is a normal hormone adjustment that occurs in app people, whether a diabetic or not. This hormone shift causes a morning elevation in the blood sugar. In theory, it is to supply more energy to effect getting up in the morning.

Several things: There are several reasons for this, could be variation in your testing meter, could be release of early morning hormones which make your insulin more resistant, or even a high fat evening meal contributing... Hope this helps! Thanks for using Healthtap!
