Hoffa: pad is under your KNEE CAP (front of the knee!) 'root" refers to one of the cartilages" (menisceal) connection with the joint inner lining! You should discuss your pain which may in fact be due to a effusion ("water") in your knee! Hope this (and other answers) are helpful! Dr Z

I had a MRI of my left knee done. The results came back there is mildly thickened appearance of the itb with subtle adjacent edema most prominent within the lateral supracondylar region. What does this mean??
