Hoffa: pad is under your KNEE CAP (front of the knee!) 'root" refers to one of the cartilages" (menisceal) connection with the joint inner lining! You should discuss your pain which may in fact be due to a effusion ("water") in your knee! Hope this (and other answers) are helpful! Dr Z
