A member asked:

What would cause low creatinine and lipase levels in my son's bloodwork? he is 9 and has chronic abdominal pains for over a year.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Low creatinine: can come from a lack or low levels of muscle mass. Most young children can have this phenomenon without real disease. Low lipase levels are usually more complicated as it depends on the condition in which blood was taken. Lipase is a digestive enzyme produced by the pancreas. Low levels of lipase can indicate cystic fibrosis, where the pancreas is permanently damaged, or chronic pancreatitis.
