A member asked:

Pain management, what would be the best way to treat pain after a operation?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No Rx for opiates?: Usually its Standard to be discharged with opiates. I personally believe the best medicines are immediate release opiates such as Percocet, Vicodin 10/3**mg in quantities ranging from 15 to 120 units. Where there is reason to avoid acetaminophen I avoid these and write Oxycodone or hydromorphone immediate release. For weaker pain Tylenol #3 is my choice (codeine/acetaminophen 30/300mg).
