A member asked:

My 2-year old son breathes loudly when sleeping, and has done so as long as i can remember, even when in good health. his tonsils seem swollen if i look in his throat. weve tried antihistamines but in vain. what other non-surgical options are there?

Mgt: I would suggest a visit with ENT, Some options include nasal saline rinses, nasal steroids and avoiding allergens and smoke. Another measure to try is a cool air mist humidifier at night. As his facial dimensions change the issue of large tonsillar size may cause less snoring. Watch for any apnea ( periods of no chest movement) and report any related symptoms.
