Tamiflu has passed: the usual hurdles and licensing requirements of the FDA. It is somewhat effective for the treatment of influenza, both influenza A and B as well as H1N1 influenza A prophylaxis,The benefit is often considered modest (shortens illness 1-2 days) but by limiting duration of illness reduces, does not eliminate, risk of serious complications. Nausea/vomiting side effects occur; RARE serious effects.
