Emphysema.: Emphysema is an anatomical condition is exclusive to the lungs. It should not have any effect in the neck or jaw. I would consider an alternate diagnosis for this.

No.: Emphysema, if severe, may affect healing and overall health, but not likely to cause this type of infection. Please be sure to see an infectious disease doctor, and/or getting a second opinion or even a third if he does not improve.
