Yes,no,yes & yes: Ok to combine Zoloft with Valium ( you should always notify your treating or prescribing physician for any changes in your medications). Valium does help with muscle spasms ( associated with some back pain) and is a sedative , which can help with sleep. Valium is known to have a long half-life ( stays active in body for 72 hours) and can cause side effects due to this fact.

Drug interactions: Per Drugs.Com drug interaction checker there are potential mild (not clinically significant) interactions between Valium (diazepam) & Zoloft (sertraline). Valium sometimes helps wtih musculoskeletal back pain & sleep. I can't tell you whether or not to take that combination - as I would leave that between you & your doctor.
