There are various: degrees of allergy to dairy products. You may have a mild allergy where your immune system mistakes the proteins found in mild, whey and casein as dangerous substances. Your body reacts by creating IgE antibodies which then cause mast cells to create histamine. This leads to inflammation, swelling and irritation triggering mucous production. Dairy doesn't cause: Unless you have cough producing it, Phlegm alone is not a medical condition of concern. Milk and milk products are not the cause of phlegm, so you can believe this fact and ignore any collection of mucus in your throat. You can either cough it out or swallow(it is harmless). Less attention you pay to your throat(unless it is is sore) better you will feel. Try Chewing gum to help you swallow it.
