Tetrageminy: If your heart beat feels funny, with extra or skipped beats, or irregular rhythm, we call it palpitations. Certain kinds of premature beats have a pattern like you described. If you have a sustained rapid heart rate, with chest discomfort, shortness of breath, lightheadedness/fainting, then you should get checked by a doctor. If it is brief and does not cause those other symptoms don't worry.
