Advil: Ibuprofen (Advil) is a less specific form of OTC pain relief for toothaches and generalizecd body pain. Generally Meloxicam (brand name Mobic) is used for bony or arthritic pains.

Advil...Generally: Ibuprofen or Naproxen seem to be the best over-the-counter medications for dental pain. However, they never cure the problem. Teeth aren't supposed to hurt. You should see a dentist and get the tooth fixed or removed asap. Masking the pain with meds can only hold you for a while. Usually the condition continues to get worse. Could be a cavity, infection, broken tooth, clenching at night, etc.

Dental pain: First call your Dentist and request an emergency appointment. Most toothaches caused by infection. OTC pain meds may take the edge off, but will not cure infection. Advil, exactly as prescribed on the package instructions, until you can get to see your Dentist. Go as soon as possible before dull ash becomes an acute problem.
