For my gerd symptoms i found relief in fomotadine, not in prilosec. despite the saying that prilosec is stronger . why is that ? thanks.

Gerd : Famotidine is a histamine blocker and it works faster than Prilosec which is a proton pump inhibitor which takes longer to work but its effect also lasts longer. Study earlier this year shows that that is some mortality advantage with famotidine compared to proton pump inhibitor. So keep taking what works for you in this case.

Mech of action: While Prilosec does work well in the long term, its onset of action is slower than that of Famotidine. So you’ll notice the benefit of Famotidine more readily.
