Prolactin test: You can do a serum prolactin anytime in your menstrual cycle as most patients with galactorrhea have faint or missing periods. Ovulation is impacted negatively by elevated prolactin which decreases your chances of pregnancy. There are at least two medications that can be used in the event the value is elevated for Rx.

Yes: It does but firstly what is your prolactin level. Depending on the level there are many causes of hyperprolactinemia including psychotropic meds, thyroid and renal disease. If prolactin is greater than 200 will probably require MRI to rule out Prolactinoma
