Uncertain: I just took a look at the "commandments" of the Banting Diet. Saturated fat can raise LDL (bad) cholesterol - so I am not sure that I totally understand the thoughts on this. It does make sense that non-vegetable carbohydrates are generally avoided. Published in 1863, it looks like the Banting diet was the fore-runner for some modern day diets.
