A member asked:

How do i make sure that both of my 2 year old son's testicles are in his scrotum? at times his right testicle disappears. as his dad, i am concerned that he is ok. his pediatrician said he felt both of them and not to worry.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Relax: The cremaster muscle can/does retract the testis into the canal on occasion. Why we have such a muscle is not known but it can certainly lead to what you report. If you note both testis down when he is in a warm bath (relaxes the muscle) he is normal. Sometimes it will retract in cold water. Having the kids doc check it on yearly exam is all you need to do to stay on top of this.
