Try this.: Some bites are potentially more serious than others and can have serious consequences. Having said that, you first need to check and see if there a stinger or other insect part in the bite area, If so, remove it. The area should be washed with soap and water. An ice pack should be applied after applying a hydro-cortisone topical. Elevate the foot and take an anti-inflammatory such as advil.

Varies: Some biting insects will injection a toxin which can cause pain and swelling, sometimes bites can also become infected as well. Don't hesitate to be seen for it.
