A member asked:

Diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis 2 x in year..one side pain, ? pid? can doxycycline & metronidazole alone work? no std, no tubo abscess ..

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Bacterial vaginosis: Bacterial vaginosis is correctly treated by both metronidazole and/or doxycycline although the latter is often less effective due to bacterial resistance. The unilateral pain is of more concern for a fallopian tube infection and an ultrasound first and secondly a laparoscopy can help delineate. or rule out that concern. Hopefully, your MD also did STD testing as some STD's are often masked by BV.
