Follicular hypertrop: Yes, normal finding. Adults can have prolonged pain at surgical sites because more raw tissue exposed, Takes time to epithelize. Pain should subside significantly after 10 days. No smoking, alcohol, spicy/acidic foods, crunchy foods, no mouthwashes. Can use anesthetic lozenges. Few tablets of prednisone helpful if have severe pain. Avoid NSAIDS because of potential bleeding.

Follicular: Hyperplasia describes the NORMAL response of TONSIL tissue to its role in fending off infectious agents. After tonsillectomy it is very common to have RESIDUAL tonsillar tissue and this tissue will most likely show "hyperplasia" =REACTION to the various organisms you come in contact with! IN SHORT IT'S A NORMAL FINDING! Hope this helps Dr Z
