What's the difference in the stages in ms ?

Mere terminology: Clinically isolated syndrome, means the first neurological problem with suspicion of eventual confirmation of ms. Radiologically isolated synd, implies abnormal MRI c/w ms, but without clinical problems. Secondary progressive is a possible consequence of r/r ms, if disease not controlled. Point of these terms is to confirm a diagnosis, and decide when and how to treat, which can be very complex.

EDSS: There is not a staging system for MS as there is for cancer. That said, there is something called the EDSS, the disability scale, which is used to compare progression of MS in populations of people undergoing research. This is a ranking from 0-10 that is based on walking, how far, and with what kind of assistance. Not everyone with MS progresses or finds this scale useful.
