Striking differences: Muscular dystrophy usually starts in childhood or adolescence, less commonly later in life. It is a hereditary progressive condition, causing problems with weakness in skeletal muscles, and occasionally cardiac muscles, with abnormal muscle enzymes. MS is an inflammatory autoimmune condition, affecting brain, spinal cord, and eyes, with relapses and remissions. MRI lesions can confirm.
