See a dentist: Red lesions on the tongue can represent a number of things. These can be benign things such as inflamed papillae, tongue bites, or lingual tonsils. Although most conditions like this are benign, they can also be serious, such as oral cancer. You should see an oral surgeon or oral pathologist. Most general dentists will also be able to help you.

Go see a dentist: So, are you asking if the tongue spot is related to the infected tooth? If so, the answer is: possibly. But since a red spot on the side of the tongue can be a sign of oral cancer, you should see a dentist immediately to have it evaluated, and get the infected tooth treated, too.
