It could: An infection can cause an abscess, the lump can be due to a fistula where pus come out best way is to take xray, check with your dentist.

Cheek and tongue : Hello, it is uncommon to see a tooth infection cause a lump inside your tongue. I would recommend a trip to your family doctor for an evaluation and possible referral to an ENT doctor.
